Tests will always be announced at least a week ahead of time. Quizzes may or may not be announced. The final exam is cumulative. Any student absent the day before the test (review day) will be expected to take the test on the scheduled day. If you are absent the day of a test, you will be required to take the test the day you return to school.
Homework will be checked daily. It is to be done in pencil. All problems must be copied from the book and all work shown. NWNC – no work, no credit. You are expected to correct your mistakes with proper work shown. Be sure you put the date on all notes and assignments so you can find them easily.
Make Up Work: If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get all make up work. This includes both the class work and homework. A student who is absent 1 day will have 2 days in which to complete and turn in ALL make-up work. Please see me if you miss more than 2 days of school in a row to get a schedule for completing your make-up work. You must make arrangements with the teacher to make up tests and quizzes.
Attendance: Daily attendance in this class is essential in order for each student to be successful. You are expected to be in class and on time daily. You will be marked tardy if you are not in your seat when the bell rings. CHS tardy policy will be enforced.
Fulton County Recovery Policy:
Provision for Improving Grades.
1. Opportunities designed to allow students to recover from a low or failing cumulative grade will be allowed when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements including attendance.
Students should contact the teacher concerning recovery opportunities. Teachers are expected to establish a reasonable time period for recovery work to be completed during the semester. All recovery work must be directly related to course objectives and must be completed ten school days prior to the end of the semester.
2. Teachers will determine when and how students with extenuating circumstances may improve their grades.
3. Chattahoochee High School Mathematics Department Guidelines:
Recovery is available to students with cumulative grade below 74% after a minimum of two (2) major grades. The maximum grade a student can earn for a recovery activity is 70%. There will be only one recovery opportunity per failed major assignment or test. The individual teacher will determine the means of recovery. The student must initiate the process within five (5) days of notification of a failing grade on a major assignment/test.
Class Policies and Procedures: All students are expected to treat EVERYONE with RESPECT! Appropriate language is expected at all times. You are held responsible for the rules in the CHS Handbook. Be on time to class and bring your materials with you. You will be allowed 6 hall passes during the semester. These will be recorded in your student handbook, so have it in class with you EVERY DAY! You are expected to participate in class. No sleeping is allowed, you are not to put your head down on your desk. If you are not feeling well, please tell me, and we will take the appropriate action. There is to be NO FOOD and NO DRINKS IN CLASS! If you need to get some water, please do so before the bell rings.
Parent Connect: Using Parent Connect on the web is a great way to keep up with your student’s grades. You will be able to periodically check his/her grade and dates for upcoming tests. Please remember that it may take a few days to actually enter all grades into the system. In addition, you will receive a grade sheet every two weeks. This grade sheet must be signed and returned within three (3) days.
Extra Help: I will be available in room G 103 before school at 8:00 and after school to help students. Please check the weekly calendar poster in the front of the room to see if there are any times that week when I will not be available. If I am not in G 103, please come next door to G 105 and knock on the door.
In order for us to have a successful semester it is important to be in class and complete assignments on time. It is also important to ask questions in class if you do not understand the material. I will not know if you are confused unless you tell me. I want each one of you to do your very best and to achieve to the best of your abilities! Let’s work together and have a great semester
